Accomplishments

• Continued high achievement - Per the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction Report Card, Hudson School District "Exceeds Expectations." This is the highest score in our conference and CESA.
• The Board & Admin worked together with the Hudson LaCrosse Association to bring high school LaCrosse as a WIAA sanctioned sport while keeping the cost impact mostly neutral for the district & athletes.
• Advocated to add Marching Band to fulfill Physical Education requirement
• Passed Referendum to update 3 schools while keeping our AA1 Bond Rating. Only 3 other school districts in Wisconsin have a higher rating.
• Recommended that we set aside money to offset the cost of any building projects.
• Listened to parents who asked for a pause in closing of schools.
• Support for reworking of teacher compensation system so it is more clear, offers incentives for professional growth, and retains excellent educators.
• Administration & School Board working on the sale of UU property as requested by voters.
• Recently listed the District Office (Administrative Service Center) for sale with the idea that the district offices will move into open space in the Hudson Middle School.

The BEST part of the school board is when students come to visit! Some kids come with teachers to demonstrate new teaching techniques or curriculum. Some students share their experiences in activities like Battle of the Books. Students from the high school regularly visit to share about Fall, Winter and Spring sports & activities. High School actors often perform pieces from the current musical.

Students share their successes, challenges and what they've learned from activities. They talk about how to be a good winner, how to meet disappointment, and even simply how to be a "good sport." It reminds me that not all learning occurs in the classroom!
