For any conversation about school board service, children should always be centered.
A guiding principle in how I believe we need to approach education comes from former Lucy Laney Elementary School principal, Mauri Melander Friestleben: “Anytime anybody sees a child that looks forlorn, lost, not taken care of — spread your arms, scoop them up, ask questions later, but love them first.”
I believe in building bridges between people and finding common ground, emphasizing what we agree on rather than what we disagree on.
I was raised in a family where we were taught to help out where we could and leave things better than we found them. Because I've been a full time "stay-at-home" mom and part-time paid employee, I've been able to volunteer my time in the community. One of the greatest joys in my life is to be able to be of service to others.
